Victoria Regional Produce Market

slow food movement

The Victorian Regional Produce market is a representation and showcase of Victorian regional produce within inner Melbourne to serve a growing city residential population that has hitherto been serviced only by the Queen Victoria Markets for the past fifty years. The design is inspired by the ‘slow food movement’ – a sensual journey that is architecturally represented using circular elements of varying scale and function. These elements are dispersed throughout the structured marketplace to form public space detailing such as provision for natural lighting, ventilation and seating; as well as public programs – a library, amphitheatre and gallery bar.
