Our Safari Wedding Party

Save the date for an epic adventure in South Africa!

You are invited to join Roselyn and Jan for our wedding celebrations in the bush the week of the 25th May 2017 at Kruger Park. The plan is simple: give everyone a great excuse to take leave, go on a once-in-a-lifetime trip to South Africa, choose your own holiday package, and join us for a celebration.

When: Week of the 25th of May 2017
Where: Kruger Park (Southern Area), South Africa
Why: To celebrate the wedding of Roselyn and Jan
Who: You!

The Celebration

boma

Roselyn and Jan would like to invite you to a Boma Braai for dinner. A Boma is a traditional name for a cattle enclosure and in modern days is used to create a beautiful setting for a dinner event. It is a big sanded area surrounded by a wooden enclosure and centered with a circular fire place. This is where the fresh meats are cooked on the fire. All in all, this is an incredible setting which is perfect to celebrate the wedding of Roselyn and Jan.

Date: One evening during the week of the 25th
Location: TBC – most likely Skukuza Restcamp or surrounds
Dress: Casual explorer
Bring: Hunger
Leave: Vegetarians – don’t worry there will be salads too.
Gifts: Will be thrown in the fire. All we ask for is for you to join us in celebration 🙂

Getting to Kruger Park

Best is to fly by airplane to Johannesburg (JNB) OR Tambo International airport. From there, the park is approximately 400km East and can be reached by rental car or plane. We recommend to rent a car with a few people and drive there together. This is for sure the option Roselyn and Jan will use. More info on other options here.

Driving: Rent a car from Budget Rental. A little car is fine as most roads are paved in the park. It will cost about Euro 200 per week for a B-type like a VW Polo.
Flying: Fly to Skukuza Airport (SZK) and rent a car there.

Accommodation Options

We will be staying in the Southern Part of the park – where all the animals are! And there is a choice of luxury safari camps, self-catering and even camping accommodation. Roselyn and Jan have chosen to stay at the Skukuza Restcamp. But the choice is yours as these rest camps are relatively close together and you can even stay at multiple restcamps during your stay. During the day, when out viewing the animals, you can also easily stop for drinks or lunch at one of the other restcamps.

More details about Skukuza Restcamp

This is one of the more commercial camps in the park and has everything you will need including cellphone reception, shops, grocery shop, post office, restaurants, a fuel station, bars, etc. Yes, you are in civilization! And there is a protective fence around the restcamp so you won’t have a rhinoceros in your bed. But maybe you will find an adorable impala.

Roselyn and Jan will stay at one of the huts which has all the amenities we will need: A bed, shower, toilet and an ‘equipped’ kitchen for about Euro 40 per person per night. There are also bigger huts available for multiple people in case you happen to have friends.

The choice is yours!

Like we said, you can stay at any of the other restcamps too. We will stay in the huts, but there are some awesome tents available as well. Or, if you are feeling a little fancy, take a look at the Mega Luxury Lodges as they are redonkulous (also in price).
